Plowing w/F-150 supercrew

First I'am new to this site and love it.

Has anyone hooked up a plow to the supercrew. Like a lot of people I've been getting hammered this year(snow) and my Quad can't handle a 400ft driveway. I checked into snowbear plows, but not sure how well they work. Also the owners manual does not suggest plowing with the supercrew. Any thoughts.

The front springs on the S'crew are not rated from the factory for snow plow use. If your truck is still under warranty you may want to hold off. Any (ab)use not recommended by the manufacturer may void that agreement.

Thanks for the response. I guess it looks like I'am stuck with the plow issue. Might be time to think about a F-250.

I have a Snowbear snow plow, but it is on a SuperCab not a SuperCrew. This is the second winter I have used it. I have an 1,100' long driveway that I use it on and it works great.

I think the Snowbear plow weighs just a tad less than 300 lbs, so it's not as heavy as the commercial units, plus the plow does not stay on the truck all the time. I mount it to plow out the driveway, and then it comes off when I am done. It only takes about 5 min. to put it on, and less to take it off.

I purchased it at BJ's warehouse club for right around $1,000.

Thanks 03trueblue. I looked into the snow bear plows and it looked like it might be the thing I need. I just worry about the warranty and and the issue with it being too much weight for the front end. I apreciate everyone giving me their thoughts.

I have a 97 250LD with a 7.5ft western Unimount plow. I understand the LD is similar to the 7700package 150. I've plowed pretty heavy this winter and the weld broke on the plow hitch before the truck broke. I think my setup works because the unimount comes off when your not using it and also I cranked up the torsion bars for more height.

I live in Minnesota and even though the fav flavor for plowers is the super-duty or heavy-duty trucks in the GM line....I still see many, many 1/2 tonners with plows on them....some new, some old. I think it depends on how much you are going to use it..personal use you probably ok....commercial, go get a 1 tonner.

Myself, i think i would be afraid to plow with a truck equipped with airbags, eventhough we have seen several 35- 40 mph collisions(wrecks) pass through our shop with no deployed airbag. .

I was concerned about that too, but I realized the plow hitch is below the bumper and any bumps or forces occur down there, below the airbag sensors.

The sensors have been moved to the electronic crash sensor module ,usually on the transmission hump or center of dash. When they were on the radiator support they a lot more sensitive.

I didn't know they were located there. Thanks for the info, hopefully I'll never need to use it.
