how to check if intake gaskets leak?
I have 2003 f150 xlt 4.2 V6. 171 and 174 trouble code. Lean on bank one and two.
Can I spray starting fluid around manifold to locate manifold leaks or vacume leaks or does anybody have a better way to find out if intake gaskest or bolts leak??
My A/C will change from panel to defrost when you hit the gas. It seems like it might be a vacume leak. How and where do you check for vacume leaks?
Please help. Garge said PMC is probaly bad but dealer says gasket leaks more likley the prob only talk to dealer over phone.
Please help

the lean codes can mean a vacuum leak. the air switching to defrost definitely means vacuum leak. I would start looking at all the 1/4 inch diameter black vacuum hoses on the motor. Take off one at a time, see if it is hard or cracked. Ends swill and dont fit well. Im not familair with the 4.2 layout, more the 5.4... Find the right hose and maybe you fix all the problems.
