For those on the darkside, what headers?

Yes I realize that it's Taboo to talk darkside her but I have to work with what I have! I have a 1987 TPI 350 in my 1953 F100 (pictures in my gallery). Its hooked up to a 700R4 sitting on a Fatman Fabrication MII front suspension. MII power steering and a CPP steering column. That brings us to the heart of the question...what headers will work? Any suggestions...Please.

Most any headers that are made for a SBC should work...your fitment issues are going to arise when you hookup the exhaust system. Unless you intend to go with some exotic long tube headers then the rest of the "standard" header designs should be no problem.

Darkside.........Taboo? I'm not ashamed that my truck is a darkside build. I figure that my truck would have met it's fate in a crusher if it hadn't wound up in my hands. As for the headers, you might want to look at Patriots. Summit racing stocks that brand I think. I'm using Patriot's clipsters on the 400 sbc in my truck, but my frame is clipped with a chevelle frame.

If you think it might help I'll try to take a few pictures with the headers in place on my engine. It might give you an idea as to whether they might work.

Don't be bashful about darkside stuff. There's a pretty good relationship on this forum between the restoration guys and the darkside guys and we all can play in the same sandbox without anyone getting hurt feelings.

Here's what I was going to run on my Caddy;

But, due to some steering issues I had to go with the stock exhaust manifolds (for now -- someday I'll get it all worked out)

I think if you go with a set of shorty headers for a sbc, you'll be ok

I think standard "shorty" headers should work. I wouldn't suggest long tube. If you get block-huggers, you might have to go to one of the mini-starters.

These are Headman #692160 which are for '64-74 C Series Trucks. I took a chance buying them at a rod swap meet but the drivers side was too close to my Toyota Steering Box.

If you don't have this type of clearance issue these headers tuck in quite nicely. I have an F1 however.

headers

Yes the shorty headers will be your best fit. I have a 289/M11 setup and on the steering i had to use 3 couplins to clear it all. Works good as far as i can tell. Havn't gotten to drive it much.

I tried the Patriots Clipsters today with no luck! I took a picture that gives a little better image of whats going on with the engine mount. Wish me luck on the next set.

I know on my 289 I used the block hugger headers from Summit. I had to trim the flange area a tad but they worked real well for me...

I'm using Sanderson # cp11 headers on my sbc the 3cp10's should work as well. They are a shorty type header that dump out the back by the firewall. Mind you I'm deeper toward the darkside using a Chevy C10 frame as well. http://www.sandersonheaders.com/Sand...eader-Set.html

No problems on the darkside here as that is how I roll. Mine is a S-10 frame so I have to use swap headers. In your case I think I would take a minute and contact fatman and ask if they had experience with this. They do a lot of swaps so they just might have heard of a fix.

I've got some Hedman headers for a '81 Camaro on my '56. It's Camaro-clipped, but the motor is moved forward about an inch from stock location to clear the firewall. The headers fit fine and clear everything, but one of the tubes was slightly dented to allow for removal/clearance of the Upper control arm cross-shaft bolts. I couldn't find a part number on the headers, but I looked at a friends '78 Camaro and his new Hedman headers are nearly identical to mine.
