2005 f250 need more power

Hey guys i have a 2005 f250 4x4 regcab 8ft bed with cap a 5.4L triton, and i just got a travel trailer and it weights 7,800 pounds and my truck seems like it is really struggling pulling this trailer. What simple things can i do to get more pulling power i dont want to spend to much money do it but any advice would help!

Thanks --Dano

I think most on here would say re-gearing if you have the 3.73's, but this isn't a real cheap option. Is it struggling on hills, flat ground, etc.. I know with 4k+ behind mine it needs some extra motivation (right foot) going up inclines, but what truck doesnt?

Try a tunner.

The 5.4L will pull that much weight all day long, but don't expect to be going 70mph up 6% grades.
I found that my SCT tunner made a big difference when towing. I don't go over the hills a whole lot faster, but the truck doesn't have to shift as often on the flatter ground and will hold rpm longer then it does without the tunner.
Also, don't be afraid of pushing that peddle down. Pulling a hill at 3500rpm won't bother the 5.4L. Many people will run alot higher rpm then that, but I don't see the need to be the fastest person on the road when I am pulling valuable cargo like my horses.

I may just have to try one of these SCT tuners.

Contact Mike at 5 Star tunning. Most people agree that he is really good with the 5.4L and his customer service is really good.

I have the SCT X3 with custom tunes for economy, regular gas HP/Towing, and premium HP/Towing.

Will a K&N filter help at all or a Airaid kit?

There seams to be alot of differing opinions on that. Most people seam to believe that they won't help, while some people seam to think that they do.

Personally, I will stick with my stock intake system since I am awlays on dusty construction sites or pushing through snow.
