EcoBoost upgrades.

I cant wait to see what the aftermarket can provide for the ecoboost.

Being a turbo engine, i would be willing to bet that there is some serious power to be had from custom engine tuning, intercoolers, exhaust.

Maybe north of 400 hp and near 500 ft lb?

Could be interesting.

What kind of gains have they gotten out of the SHO?

you should just get the 6.2 then instead of spending all the money on unproven aftermarket mods.

To bad it doesnt come in a FX4. I never said i was getting one anytime soon. This is just for specutlation and fun. Any mods to the 6.2l is just as unproven as the ecoboost is at this point.

I think he was hinting that you would be starting out with more power with the 6.2 and thus wouldn't have to worry as much about adding a/m modifications to achieve the same or more HP output with the ecoboost.

It'll take a good solid year, maybe even 2 after the release of a new engine to have the kinks worked out on everything and what limits can be pushed and what can't, how much can you get away with tuning etc.

I wouldn't think about it too much for at least a year and then see where everything is at.

Some mods available for the EB in the SHO and Flex, if also made available for the F150, will easily surpass the output of the 6.2. The money it takes to upgrade to the 6.2 from Ford could surpass the cost of the mods for the EB. The EB is also far more available throughout the F150 lineup.

The mods have been proven in the other applications. Hennessey Performance has the Max Boost 445 kit for the SHO (Athough an expensive example @ $3500)

SCT tuner, some CAI, and a free flowing muffler should be all that it would take to completely embarrass a top-of-the-line 6.2 F150.

Ha, go to Ford's site and build a F150 XL with the Ecoboost for $27,065

Try to add the 6.2. Must have a Lariat Supercrew with the 5.5' box to touch that 6.2 adding $12,940 to the cost

Wow, to get the 6.2 option is more then it was to get the 6.0 option on my DRW.

I wonder if the 6.7 came close to that 12k+ upcharge to get that engine?

Personally I would not touch the turbo V6 with any Mods! Ford has it to the point where it makes incredible power & highly durable!!!

That's what quite a few people say about stock trucks. What it actually should be is "incredibly powerful and high durable for one size fits all type of truck".

You do have the potential to increase power and depending on how you do it durability a little bit more then what Ford can do having to stick within the confines of mass production efficiency as well.

That's only if you wanted the cheap no frills XL to begin with. Going from a Lariat 4x4 screw with a 5.0 to the 6.2 isn't but 1700.00 or so i thought.

There's a big difference from a base XL to a Lariat SC.

i'm with tex...
i got a diesel and 4x4 options cheaper than the 6.2 option for f150.

for that price you can get a XL F250 6.2 cheaper.

My point was, depending on what options you want, the 6.2 can be a VERY expensive upgrade because of the availability. The Ecoboost is available in most F150 packages.

The 6.2 option is $3235 more than the 5.0 and $1920 more than the Ecoboost in the 2wd Lariat platform. For a 4wd, the Ecoboost is $750 more than the 5.0, and the 6.2 is still $3235 making the 6.2 $2485 more than the Ecoboost.

And with some tuning, and intake/exhaust and intercoolers you might have more power and more MPG with the Eboost.

Maybe, but none of that stuff is for sure. But think of how much you would have to gain in MPG at a certain fuel cost in your travel area and how many miles you have to drive to break-even on cost versus improved efficiency.

Also bare in mind, it does squat for resale unless you find someone that wants all that stuff and wants to deal with its well.

Do it for the fun factor if you are going to do it, you'll be happier that why incase you don't realize a gain in MPG.

Your way off page with me. Only reason i would mod an Eboost is for fun. And when i was referring to the MPG i was meaning vs the 6.2l.

Either way. Im not in the market just yet. Gotta get my Mustang paid off first. Maybe next year i will look at an Eboost.
