This could possibly be a simpler fix than anticipated. The shift linkage in your 92 has a pair of small screws at the base of the steering column. They are notorious for working loose and creating a misalignment of the shift indicator and not always going into the gear selected. Eventually they will work all the way out. Check the driver's side floor carefully. Replace them or tighten them and all should be back to normal.

Isn't that the little plastic/nylon piece on the manual Mazda M5 tranny that breaks? maybe it's that piece, that would definitely make the lever to feel loose. That's a cheap and easy repair.

Wait, are we talking about an automatic or a manual transmission? The manual is even simpler... two bolts hold the shift lever to the transmission shift arm. They are Allen head bolts.

I'm glad Grey was able to help you with that one, and to see you solved it (now go over one of his posts and hit the heart).

Now I'm the one having issues with my shift linkage, my shifter tube was broke and I replaced it, I think I haven't calibrated shifter properly, but it has been way too hard moviing it down at the transmision, like something is stuck inside. Where can I find the shift linkage bushings I've seen mentioned in several threads?.

Here is the rest of the info btw: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...oken-help.html
