transfer case leak

Ok
help
, 1985 f-150 4 wheel drive , 4 speed (granny gear) Noticed transmission fluid leaking from the front shaft, rear shaft is dry. What do i need to change this seal out? Does the yoke nut have to be removed to copmplete this task, Transfer case have to be removed ? all help appreciated thanks TR

Mine does that, too (1981 BW 1345 on a T18) I replaced the seal once and had to take it
apart again a year later (for a different reason) during which time I found it was STILL
leaking.

Put in yet a different seal but I honestly don't expect it to help, the problem in my case
seems to be the input shaft bearing has worn, the input shaft itself can be wiggled up &
down/back & forth an appreciable amount; it shouldn't do that.

In my case, time to rebuild the transfer case. *sigh*
