Drivers door on a '67 C 700

Greetings to all,

I need to replace the drivers door on my recently purchased C700 tilt cab. I may have found one at a nearby wrecking yard but its a few years older. I need to know what years are compatible.

If anyone knows or can direct me to someone that does, it would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Mike

C4TZ9120125E .. Left Door Shell / Fits: 1964/71 C500/1100 / 1972 C500/1100 before serial number N20,001.

The C Series doors may look all the same from 1957 thru 1986, but they are not all the same, as looks can be deceiving.

1972's from serial number N20,001: Ford changed the door shells, door latches, door remote controls, door handles and the striker plates...because these trucks have door lock *****.

Thanks for the tip. That would definitely suck if I laid out good money for a door that doesn't end up fitting.

Appreciate the heads up.

Next beer is on me.

Mike

PS: Sounds like you are the go to expert in the forum given your work history. The ID tag is gone on my truck and it has been issued a new VIN by the State Patrol.

C75EUA88060

Wondering if they obtained this from the frame or....

Most likely, because it matches the year of your truck.

C75 = C750 Tilt Cab.

E = 361 2V FT engine.

U = Louisville KY Assembly Plant.

A88060 = 1967, assembled February 1967.

Look on the face of the left door adjacent to the latch. Are there two holes there about 3" apart where the Warranty Plate was riveted on? Or is it still there and has been painted over?

If it's missing, in all probability...the door has been changed. People replaced damaged left doors with used doors, most did not transfer the correct/original Warranty Plate to the replaced door.

Some people removed the Warranty Plate when they replaced doors, because...the VIN on the Warranty Plate would now...no longer match the VIN on the registration.

I checked but the tag is gone.

Can you give us the link you go to when you check VIN's?

Saves having to bug you to do it for us.

There is no link that I'm aware of. I use Ford parts catalogs (on paper, CD's and microfiche) to decode VIN's, Warranty Plates, Certification Labels.

I have every Ford car/truck parts catalog from 1928 thru 2001.

The 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for about 22 bucks.

If you buy this catalog...it won't be long before you'll be bugging me on how to use it!

Whick is OK, as other members have bought this catalog and other years. Then I walk them thru the process via the telephone.

Micro fiche.... THAT brought back some memories!

Ok thanks for the info. Will check the site you mentioned. There's nothing like having the correct manuals, etc when purchasing an older rig. I would have assumed there are lots of parts out there for these rigs but I guess a lot of it has been recycled. Am still looking for a usable door.....

There's a long time truck dismantlers yard here in LA that has quite a few C Series doors. There's a complete truck (Cab & Chassis), also...but don't recall the year.

FTE member camperspecial65 lives in Olympia, scrounges all the Puget Sound wrecking yards. If anyone knows where a C Series is, he does. P/M or email me for his contact info.

You need 25 posts before you can access some FTE features.

I have more than 25 posts (quite a bit more), so I just sent you an email.
