If I can convince my cousin to come over and help me, I think ill pull that thing out of the brush tomorrow and do some preliminary assessments.

On another point, Does anybody want to trade an early 90's explorer with a 4.0 and 4x4 for a '79 F250 2wd supercab with a 460 and a C6

What do i look for to tell which transmission is in any given truck. are the fm146 and the tk-5 the only options behind a 2.3? I am looking at a ranger that has a 2.3 L and a 5 speed. I just want to make sure its not the same one that i had poor luck with before

I will count the bolts on the cover on my TK-5 and let you know.........The TK-5 was behind the 2.3/2.8/2.9

That looks like a TK-5!.......The inspection covers are in the right place.
It has a external slave cylinder too, so that makes it a TK.

Is that in your shop?
Ever think about grabbing a complete Explorer 4.0 and 5spd manual as a package?
That 5spd is stout too.
