You need the Grill, metal gravel guard at the bottom, and the metal piece that goes between the grill and radiator support. Those three pieces are all in one on the newer grills. The red piece in my photo is the top plate I am mentioning.

this thread has me thinking (a dangerous thing at my age).not that i need another project but since my 71 tried to commit suicide and hit a tree on its own..maybe i'll give some thought to a different body style grille..i have a nice shiny 1966 grille i might play with a little just to see how much it would take..sure would give it a new look....if i do it i'll come back with some pictures

Just to let you know... that is a 65 grill. It looks to be an aluminum one and they are not reproduced. The shape is not going to match the fenders on your green one. You would need to cut a portion of the 65 front fenders and weld them to the newer truck fenders.

Are you sure its not reproduced? The reason i ask is because my dad has a 66 with a painted grille. We (mainly me) are wanting to change it to chrome and im pretty sure NPD has them for a 66.

A 66 grill is different from the one you are showing in the photo. That is a one year only 65 grill. Many people like the 66 grill over all the others. The 65 grill is my favorite.
This is a picture I just found in an image search on the web. This is a 66.

This is a 65

i see now i was wrong..that is a 65..i get 65-66 mixed up all the time..since they both have the park lights over the grille.. i guess if i want that style i should use this 62..it would be alot easier if my 67 grille (that i really liked) was not so banged up.. i guess i need to check all my trucks to see which would be best to use..i am too cheap to pay for the right one..thats why i have driven it like it is for 15yrs..ha ha ha ha

Send me an email if you want to swap grills. I have a painted 67 grill that has been off the truck for 15 years or more in my dads barn. I will be up there in a couple of weeks and can check the condition. It was very nice. I would like to run that 65 grill in my 61 unibody. Or I can swap you my aluminum 69 ranger grill.

So.....what happened? Did you finish it? Did it look good? Do you have a picture? If a tree falls in the woods and no one's around to hear it, does it make a sound?
