My up pipe is cracked and im really confused..

Alright, I want to get my up pipe replaced.

Ford 6.0 Powerstroke EGR Up Pipe - 304 Stainless Steel - eBay (item 160528257477 end time Jan-13-11 09:40:46 PST)

They say that pipe will delete my up pipe. Alright great it deletes my up pipe then what connects to the turbo when the up pipe is gone?

F-250 EXHAUST UP PIPE, 2003, 6.0 LITER FORD DIESEL - eBay (item 310284724503 end time Jan-09-11 11:05:28 PST)

That stock up pipe connects to the turbo....

I just dont understand...Does anyone have pictures of someone changing these 2 out or anything...Thanks

I think they meant that it deletes your connection to the EGR cooler.

I went and looked at both auctions and don't see where they say anything about deleting anything????

This is an easy fix though. pick the shiny one if you want to delete you EGR and block off the cooler. Or get the '03 used one and slap it on to retain your EGR system as is. You could also pull the one you have and have it welded depending on where the crack is.

bad advise unless you have a round cooler. there are 2 different up pipes.

Those dang 03's just throw a wrench into everything

If you have a cracked up-pipe, you need your year to replace it. If you want to delete the flow to your EGR cooler, the shiny new one up top will do that, but you should just get the whole EGR delete kit or at least cap off the EGR cooler.

Confused yet?

Whoops, I just assumed that he had an '03 '04 because that's the year up-pipe he was looking at on ebay.

Is the uppipes themselves different or the EGR connection different? The one I made when I did my egr delete is cracked, I got a stock pipe off my buddies '04 and just welded the hole shut. I was going to swap them this weekend assuming it was the same? Will the 04 bolt up to my 06 (with no egr cooler)

The length is the same, the EGR cooler feed is different. I looked to buy the solid up-pipe to replace my old one that I welded up and eliminate the flex, Clay at Riff Raff Diesel has them. Click Here

If you're not connecting to an EGR cooler then it doesn't matter. IIRC the difference in the connection is the length of pipe from the up-pipe to the EGR cooler, not the up-pipe itself.

So if I put the up pipe, but it doesn't have the EGR connector and has the exhaust blocked off going into the EGR valve, will that work, or do I need the whole delete kit?

passenger side up pipe!

So after doing some looking around I need to replace my up pipe on the pass. side. Question is, will going to a straight pipe without a flex cause more wear on the other components vs. a new up pipe with a flex?

I believe it does. I have repaired several y pipes with the cracked flex joint that connects to the pass up pipe. 9 times out 10 likely due to the solid pass up pipe.

Josh,

Thanks for the info. By chance after replacing the y, do they seem to come back with the same issue?
