High fuel prices? Biofuel?
i was wondering since we have these fuel prices and gas prices rising so high, then why dont we go to making our own biodiesel in your own garage for say $1 or less a gallon? Is it possible for the 6.0 to run on home made diesel without any altercation to the engine? If not what would it take to make it run on home made diesel? Just saying why pay over $3 a gallon when u can make it for $1 a gallon but have to spend $1200 to start the process....

If you look down the forum list a bit you'll see a forum for specifically for bio fuels and other alternative fuels. There are a number of folks down there that know an awful lot about bio.

A while ago I looked into it. I decided to buy commercial biodiesel - it is not cheap either. It is really not that easy and the equipment is costly.
A lot of the folks doing it are putting their homebrew in very old vehicles. If you screw it up, it is not a tragedy. If you want to put it in a 6.0L, just make sure you do your homework. Get good oil to start, make sure you test for acid content, and filter for water and particulate over and over again. It is also not that easy to come by the methanol and lye required.
The 6.0L can run biodiesel (B99) without modification - I have done it for the last 2 yrs. It does gel when it gets cold (50-60F), so be careful - it is not really a good solution in the northern winter. I switch to B50 in the winter.

i have a good source of the oil so i know it wouldnt have water in it just maybe some excess food. I can still check for the water and everything i have read says just make sure u filter it really well. they said filtering is the key to make your own fuel. also there is an additive you can buy to keep from gelling in the winter months. Also we have plenty of hardware stores around here that carry it or can order in bulk. My biggest problem is i cant decide if i want to buy a processor of make my own. They say making your own is cheap and easy but without really good pics and a good idea of exactly how to run it i think i may stick to buying one that comes with a manual. Anyone willing to help would be greatly appreciated..
