Welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum. We will do our best to get you the most accurate information we can dig up.
Since the Bronco was built on the 1/2ton F-series platform it would most likely look no different than a 4WD unit. The F-150s of that vintage that are 2WD tend to ride a bit lower on their suspension but other than that and not having the front drive axle and transfer case, the Bronco wouldn't appear any different.
On the subjective side of things, for most folks in this forum, it is a complete waste of time and effort to deliberately emasculate a Bronco. You are right, the Bronco never rolled off the factory floor as a 2WD vehicle and the fact that every Bronco is 4WD is part of what MAKES it a Bronco. Removing that capacity, for many, would be like turning a stud into a gelding... it wastes your time and annoys the stud. Oh, and good luck selling such a Bronco to anyone looking to buy a Bronco.

There've been a few who've done it. But their main goal was simply to do it because no one else had.
In my opinion, if you're looking to be unique, there are better things to do than to go through the work to turn it into a 2WD. If it's for gas mileage, driving habits will raise your mpg more than removing the 4wd components.

One other advantage would be the ability to to run true dual exhaust. Off the top of my head you would need a tailshaft housing for the transmission, a ttb from a 2wd and a few other things. be cheaper than swapping in a real axle. If you wanna convert it to 2wd go right ahead. I know I don't like Fords fancy swingarm suspension. I have complete ulterior motives for mine, some will like it, some won't.

You can run true dual exhaust on a 4WD Bronco... its been done many times. Its easiest to run both pipes in the OEM configuration but you can split them too. You also have the exact same suspension setup with the OEM 2WD front end. The ONLY difference is that the suspension arms don't have any axles running through them so they are physically smaller than the Twin Traction Beam 4WD axle housings.

We have them around here in Venezuela, they look exactly the same, the height is exactly the same if they're factory made, if you find a custom one (no one would do that here, but maybe in the US...) it would probably sit lower.

I had Patriot sidepipes on my 89, they looked cool, sounded good, and lost same ground clearance as the running boards. (took them off) Shorty headers, An X-pipe with O2 bung, and a good friend at aan exhaust shop, and your good to go. Complete custom exhaust,(minus cats) cost me about $400.

This is an insult to the intelligence of mankind. This is like buying a fully customized sniper rifle and sawing off the barrel and putting a pistol grip on it just to be "different". Why would someone want to take a purpose built vehicle such as a Bronco and modify it so the very purpose of it's existence is not possible anymore? This reminds me of a show my wife and I watched the other night. We were just shaking our heads in disgust the whole time we watched this show called "Taboo". This woman with a fully functioning pair of legs had an obsession with wheelchairs and paraplegics. She wants to have a surgery done to purposely damage her spinal cord so she would become a full-fledge paraplegic. Pure stupidity if you ask me. Go buy a 2wd Tahoe, Blazer, or Suburban if you want a large SUV with zero off-road capabilities instead of destroying one of the most well-rounded trucks in automotive history.
