I don't see where the 6.4L is built THAT much better than the Dodge where it couldn't handle 50 HP more and the 6.4 could handle another 275. I may be wrong, what have you done to your motor to keep it together at sustained WOT like that

Unless you really backed off to keep your EGTs down I fear you would suffer the same demise the Dodge did.

I just got to keep it way up in the RPM range and I am golden. When ever I tow the 20K toy hauler I run in 275 now. Most I ever see for Exhaust temps is 1,500.

I forgot to post this update from Monday in this thread.
An update on my neighbor’s Cummins Dodge. He started it up this afternoon. Started a little harder than normal. It was blowing a lot of white smoke. Smelled heavily like fuel and had knock/tick sound. We shut it down and did a scan. Came up with P0217 (Decreased Engine Performance Due To Engine Overheat Condition) and P0483 (Fan Speed).
It got loaded on a trailer and should be torn into tomorrow. My neighbored called two different Cummins guys and got two opinions. One thought one of the cylinders was burnt (he thought number six would be the likely candidate) and the other thought an injector blew a tip. I guess we’ll find out in the next few days.

Update on the Dodge!
Mike posted this in the 6.7L version of this thread found HERE.
Sorry guys been real busy lately. My neighbor should get his truck back this Friday. He went with a builder that was slower but cheaper and probably a bit better than one that would have been a lot faster but more expensive. He'll be out about $7K. New pistons (3 were burnt), block bored, new bottom end (original crank), new bigger turbo (original was fried), bigger injectors (to match turbo and tune), head was planed and new valves, tune and GAUGES!
Here's a pic of one of the pistons.
