The 6.9 and the 4speed is factory original from Ford. They partnered with international for their diesel for a long time. Kind of like Chevy used detroit and dodge Cummins for their diesel.
My wife's family has white one set up same way on their ranch.
They also have a high pinion Dana 60 front axel and selectable hubs.
It's hard to beat that set up. Also a relatively short wheel base four wheel drive dually is just way cool! My brothers truck is part of the inspiration behind my current project truck.

Thanks, 1956f3504x4!
So my Beast probably is a factory-made truck, that's good to know. He sure makes me bounce over holes and ruts, but I don't worry about anything shaking loose...built like a tank. Do you know what people call this kind of truck? I'd like to find others with it or similar kinds, to learn more. I'd like to really know what I'm driving/living in.
Thanks again

I would look around in the "older, classic and antique" section in the 80-86 group.
They refer to them as "bullnose" or the seventh generation trucks. You should be able to find more there. I think there is also a section for diesel trucks. I think they call the 6.9 and later 7.3 non turbo diesels IDI. Give that a shot.

Some recent pictures of my 1978 bronco. The first is right before I dug into new shocks, and some brake work. The second is from today, I finally gave her a bath after what... A year or so? And the bottom is a picture I figured would look pretty neat.
