Since I only do a max of 10,000 miles per year I've decided to just do the flush and coolant change every other year. I figure that should keep me on the safe side and not break the bank.

Looks like this product covers the waterfront:

Arctic Blend® G-Plus Antifreeze & Coolant
Printer Version

g-plusArctic Blend® G-Plus is a hybrid organic acid technology (HOAT) extended life antifreeze formulation for use in all American and European automobiles and heavy-duty diesel engines. Arctic Blend® G-Plus antifreeze, an ethylene glycol base fluid with corrosion inhibitors, is compatible with new Ford and Chrysler coolants. Thanks to a 6 year marriage to this truck and all the info gleened from sites such as FTE and the people on it I think, knock on wood, that I have a handle on keeping this a reliable truck and also smog legal with all of the factory systems still in tact.

Coolant we use......

FINAL CHARGE

•Extended Service Intervals: Every 600,000 miles without the addition of Supplemental Coolant Additives (SCAs)
•Reduces Service and Maintenance Costs
•Maintains proper inhibitor levels
•Fully compatible with all coolant technologies
•Provides exceptional long-term elastomer compatibility and excellent heat transfer
•Total Cooling System Protection: Organic Acid Technology (OAT) formula delivers total cooling system protection for 600,000 miles of on road use. Phosphate-free, silicate-free, amine-free, nitrite-free and borate-free means it meets all global heavy duty applications, and eliminates drop out and gel problems. Provides superior wet sleeve liner cavitation and corrosion protection of all cooling system metals

Thanks all-

It looks like an HOAT formula will cover my bases. Deere Cool Guard II looks like it may provide greater cavitation protection than G05- but those are Deere test results- not independent tests. "Arctic Blend" may also provide greater protection- but I can pick up the Deere Coolguard by the 55 gal drum, which is handy.

The problem, I think, with OAT formulas like Final Charge, is that they require conversion and can not be mixed with current non-OAT formula coolant systems.
