Antique trucks in California / smog stuff

Someone told me if your ride is 25yrs or older in Ca. you don't need a smog inspection is this true ?.
Just wondering thinking of trying to move out there " family reasons "
My truck is a 85 but i riped the brains out of her, runs better now than it did with all the smog stuff / computer on it.

California regs are clearly posted on the internet:

Things You Should Know About Smog Check in California

1976 and newer gas vehicles are subject to inspection and must be as equipped when new, or have CARB approved replacement parts. (headers, manifolds, carbs, certain other parts have these exemption numbers). Period.

Don't even bother bringing your '85 here unless you only plan to spend a short time here and not register it or sell it.
