Got a 1988 F-150, it leaks in two places on the top of windshield, I need to get the chrome off, it looks good so how is the best way to remove it, to seal the window, tired of wet carpet.
You don't need any special tools just a small pry bar like something you would use to remove window trim in your house. Carefully insert the curved end under the trim and pry up aganst the glass and the clips will pop, worked fine for me.

FWIW, I tried stopping the leaks without luck. Finally had to pay someone to pull the whole windshield and reseal.

When mine leaked, it was because of rust scale under the urethane. Previous glass replacement tech probably didn't apply enough sealant primer to any bare metal spots. Glass Tech who fixed the leaky windshield told me that the primer used keeps rust from getting worse along with allowing proper bonding of the urethane to the metal channel.
I had the windshield glass replaced on our F350 for $175. Old one leaked in a heavy rain but I had the glass replaced because someone pitted it with grinder sparks. Tech said most of the 80's f's leake because of rust lifting the old glue. He got the new one in so no more leaks and now at night it is usable again.
