Value of stock aluminum wheels?

I LOVE black wheels, but as you see in my avatar, I have the factory alum wheels. I want to swap to black wheels either steel (with the round holes) or aluminum. The problem is I have like no budget with three kids and going to school while running a small business.

Is there any kind of interest in these wheels out there. Maybe enough to break even on the steel black wheels like the Pro Comp Series 98's

if you scrap em you get whatever alum. is at. other than that here locally i see a set usually go for 100-175 if they are in good shape.

I thought of that but isn't a real chore to make it "stick"? I don't want to ruin them either.

I'll Google "painting aluminum wheels" and see what I find.

It looks like the clean/degrease/320 grit sand/clean/dry/etching primer/4 light coats of quality paint will work!

I'm gonna go for it and see how it comes out.

I wouldn't ruin those factory aluminum wheels, if they are in good shape. I bet after painting they start flaking and look terrible in short order. Thats the best looking wheel for our trucks, if you ask me. Put up a wanted ad on craigslist and see is someone will trade you for what you want. You could also try to sell them. If they are nice, I bet you can get 200-300 for them. Once you paint them, they will be worth about 0 dollars.

TexasGuy, that was my original issue as you can read in my post (ruining them I mean). And trading them was my original plan. Good to know they are of some value too. Gonna think about this before I do anything. Thanks for the input!

I agree w texas but not on the value. But i guess it depends where you are. Around here they are 100-200/ As for painting, it is just like painting anything else. They already have clearcoat so you just need to sand that(220-320), then clean with a wax and grease remover, then paint

You might consider finding a used set of the old white spoke steel wheels. I bought some for $10 each, stripped them, primed & painted with Implement paint and finished with a several coats of clear. I think they came out pretty good for a $60 total investment (and lots of labor).

I've had the AR black steelies like you made yours look like and I loved them. I just seem to like the round-holed black ones a bit more.

I'm pretty sure mine aren't show-room condition either so I'll put the labor in and see what I can do.
