I think I missed the build date by just a few weeks. Is there a way to find the date it was built with the VIN?
Throw your VIN into the working window sticker link and it should reflect the day it was built in the top left group of numbers:
For example, my window sticker has:
9-NORMAL, NB, 101208,AL30, 0000000434
My truck was built 12/8 (and I know for fact that it was built on that date). I believe there's also a build date (along with when you printed the sticker) in the bottom left of the sticker, just to the right of the Final Assembly Plant cell.
Sit back and see how the media misreports it. Could end up being a good time
to buy some Ford stock if some moron in the media decides to push it as the new
Firestone or CC recall.
Must be just coincidence with yours as the number grouping in the upper left does not reflect the build date. While yours is 101208, if you start dropping in VIN's as you suggested you will see that others will have numbers that could not even be a date. In fact there is no build date info on the SD window stickers. The best you can do is take the other date you suggested from the cell to the right of Final Assembly Point, which is the invoice date, and add 7 days to give you the approximate build date...
Got it, thanks for the heads up. (and my apologies to the others for the misinformation!)
Interesting problem. Such a small window of questionable units. I took delivery on the 9th of October so I'm exempt.
I read that it was because a new operator at the manufacturer's facility of the PCB's "forgot" to clean the soldering machine FOUR SHIFTS IN A ROW!!!!!!!! This lead to a lot of dragging and balling up of solder and contaminants, which means some boards have the possibility of a solder bridge, that may cause a short between two traces.
