I'd be all over it for $1200.00 As others have said - that truck would likely fetch $2300+ in other parts of the country.

Ask the seller if you can take it to someone to have them look it over.

Uh huh...that's your opinion.
Have you read all the posts?

This truck is a FRANKENSTEIN monster with parts swapped around from lawd knows what.

The 1964 year is suspect as it has a 1963 grille, and a 352 engine that was not offered until 1965.

The bed, as just pointed out, is from a 1967/72. The A/T shift lever has been swapped to the floor...look at the interior pic, see if you can tell what else is in-correct.

These trucks are a dime a dozen here in SoCal and are worth next to nothing...especially if they are cobbled up rolling piles of misery like this one.

I dunno of any place in the USA where someone (who knows what's correct...and what ain't) would be willing to pay $2300.00 (or even $1200.00) for this pile.

If its been pieced together that much, I'd pass on this one. Since you are in Arizona, I would think that you could find a better rust free truck to buy. Where I live in VA (the rust belt), trucks without rust are harder to come by.

Sorry ND - didn't mean to pee in your corn flakes.

I didn't notice or read about the mismatching bed.

It is a $500 buck parts truck here in Arizona, just another piece of junk old truck. It has to many issues as to pedigree. Of major concern is the bed. A good bed brings more than a complete truck as they are being sourced and sold elsewhere.

$1200 will bring a fairly solid and complete slick or bumpside.

I am on vacation and can take a look at it if you want. I replied on the PM.

fe?

hi, you need to learn how to read and understand serial #s. it will tell you what year the truck is and what motor would have come in it. the 352 ( if that's what it is ), would not have been a standard option in 63, but you could have special ordered it with any engine available in 63, inclueding a R code 427. it would have been dealer installed and the numbers may not have been changed. if the later bed is in nice shape you could recoop most of your cost for a correct bed if desired. if the cab mounts are good it's a fair price for a good driver.

Well, there is one place you can sell it for that much. To an ECI, or as they say on the Cougar Forum, an East Coast Idiot...

OK, here ya go for my 2 cents worth,

1st it is a frankenstein. parts from at least several differant fords.

Telll the guy that and then talk him down to $1000 bucks. and ya got a trash hauler. and you will get around 15 MPG if you are lucky. and you will keep looking for a truck to work on for a nice daily driver.

look for a short bed slick 60's that will do you proud to own.

The only available V8 engine in 1961/64 F100/350's was the 292.

The 352 was first offered (as an option) in 1965 F100/350's, used thru 1967.

The 427 was never offered for any truck.

Since when do dealers change the Warranty Plate codes and/or the VIN engine codes? Never. It was against the law then...and now.

While it's possible a dealer (if you could find one to do this) could have installed different engines, the cost to the customer could have equaled the price of a new truck.

The R code 427 had an MSRP of $1377.00 in 1963, now figure the labor costs and the prices of all the parts necessary to install it in a truck....many of which would have to be fabricated.

Then what trans would the customer choose?

A new 1963/64 F100 Custom Cab Styleside w/a 292, radio/heater, A/T and etc could be bought for $2500.00. It would cost at least that ...if not more to install the 427, the 352 (from a car) would be a similar dollar amount.

And...the customer would not have gotten any credit from the dealer for whatever engine was in there originally. A dealer might not even take it for free, since it's a used engine, so the customer would have to give it, or haul it away.

Its def a 63 or 64....straight cut dash...no indent for the steering column as in later years...the CC lower dash trim plate...63 and 64 only as I recall though will fit other years as well...the bed...good eye as i didnt catch that at first look either...Im not certain what the LB wheelbase was on the 63 seperate cab and bed trucks, but 64-6 was 129 as stated prior and as Bill said 131 for the bumpsides...price...500 would be my top offer for it...easy way to tell a 292 from a 352...or any FE engine...does the valve cover have 2 studs sticking out of the top on either end ??? If so, thats the Y block family of which the 292 is part of...
