Critical info:

Did the flash before the last one support ECT/EOT monitoring?

If no, evidence points to turbo.

If yes, evidence points to ECT/EOT or turbo...

Side note:

I would love to be a fly on the wall of the Ford software shop that keeps track of all the changes they are doing to the software...

There are so many stealth revisions out there... LOL... we only know about a fraction of them.

Very few people know how much changes happen behind the scenes when over 3 million lines of code are involved in running a basic car.

The total code body (counting all the bling bling like navigation etc.) on many vehicles is now topping 100 million lines of code.

If not, I know Scangauge II does.
SGII will store freeze frame data IF a code is stored.

Well,I purchased a scan gage and it is all hooked up really like how easy it is to operate now to wait until my trip home this spring to check out what code it has been throwing when I am pulling. As soon as I find out will let everyone know. The knowledge here on this forum is amazing.

Did you add the Xguage codes for the EOT (Engine Oil Temp)?
and the TFT (trans fluid temp)
Their website lists the codes for the Ford 6.0 you'll want to add
them and make sure they work before you tow.

BOth of these are important, especially when towing.
If you watch the ECT (engine coolant temp: aka fWT)
and the EOT you'll be able to observe what's happening
leading up to the wrench light coming on.

I recently installed the Scangauge II in my '03 6.0 and was quite surprised by some of the numbers when we pulled our 5th wheel to the Davis Mountains and Big Bend over the holidays. In tow/haul mode with the cruise control set on 60, I saw 253 degree oil temps a few times. The boost would peg out and become unreadable. It looks like the MAP only reads to 40 PSI (boost + atmospheric). It was scary to watch, but when the numbers got crazy, the computer backed off and didn't try to maintain the cruise setting. The truck did real well on the trip for having 107K miles. It's pretty scary to see it kick down the tranny and run up to 3000+ revs going up all the hills. I was waiting for it to blow up at any time.
