Frame paint?

Hey guys,

Trucks inside for the winter, and im going to paint the frame. Im going to pull the bed off this week. What is the best paint to use? Ive used POR-15 and i wasnt too happy with it, and its costly! The frame doesnt have any rust scale so it will clean up easy. So if you guys have any paint info that would be great! Pulling the beds gonna stink cuz the bed has a spray in bedliner....

Ill probably get a tongue lashing for this this one but I've always used heavy duty enamel for stuff not gina be commonly seen and even on my shifter handles too. But I don't have a spray gun either. just spend time priming nicely if you're worried about the look. I've done a lot on my truck and gsxr with the dupli color and krylon enamel

I've heard that the bedliner in a spray can like the Duplicolor stuff works well, just prep the surface really good.

I think Eastwood has a frame paint that encapsulates rust & stops it. The cost per can is around $15.00......I think......

Check out farm equipment paint.

Most of it is heavy duty stuff that can take a little abuse.
And with decent prep can actually look right good.

If it is OK for a 300,000 dollar combine, it should be OK for your frame.

I used Duplicolor undercoating on my F-150 frame. It works ok, but next time I will try something else like POR-15 or implement paint or something similar...

Try Rust Bullet. They are a sponsor here.

My son got some Rust Bullet for his 87 F350 he is restoring.

From what I have seen of it, good product.
They also have a black top coat that is a product just like the primer, but he has not used any of it yet.

I will know more this spring after we see what the winter does to his exposed frame that he has painted.

Just like POR 15 it is not cheap.

After a good cleaning with a pressure washer & degreaser, I painted my frame with a quart of Rustolium & a foam roller. All of the areas that could not be reached with the roller where painted with a spray can. I used the cheap spray paint from Home Depot (98 cents/can). This "cheap" spray paint has the same address on the can as the Rustolium does so I assume it is made by them. This paint job has held up very good & has been on my truck for almost 2 years with no issues. Total cost = $25.00 or less. A picture of it can be seen here:http://www.affordablestumpservices.com/services.htm
