F250 Steering Column in a F150

I am needing to get a new steering column in my 95 F150. I have found a 95 F250 column. I know that it does not come with the airbag. Can anybody tell me if the F250 column comes wired for a airbag and is just not used? If not is it hard to swap the wiring from my current steering column over to the F250 column?

Is there anything else that might be different between the 2 columns?

Thanks,
Michael

The column structure is the same, and it's an aluminum "shorty" column.

You can easily move your air bag steering wheel, the wiring, and the horn ring from your old column over to the new column without issue. I've done it many times.

In fact, my 93 F350 has a 92 Town Car column now because doing so gave me a smaller, leather wrapped steering wheel (preference), cruise control buttons and column wiring for those buttons, and tilt wheel. The aluminum structure of the columns were the same, with the addition of the big hinge for the tilt-wheel.

Why did you get a new column? The msot common reason is worn bearings and steering wheel "flop", and you can replace the bearings easily enough yourself and that's often far cheaper.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the reply frederic.

The plastic rod that goes from the ignition switch to the key cylinder is broken. Have not found a good thread on how to fix it. Most of the threads say to just pick up a new column. I figured I would get the new column and see if I can fix the old one later when I have time.

Went out and looked at the F250 column and it did not have the overdirve button on the shifter so I did not get it.

There are many replies on how to fix the 91 and older actuators but I can't find one that explains how to fix a fixed column with the plastic rod for a 92-96.

Question about the F250 column. Since it does not have the overdrive button on the shift column, is it possible to put my shifter on there? What all would be involved with that? I guess that there is a couple of wires that come out of the shifter on mine with the OD.

Also, what other year/model vehicles use the same column?
