I have tried my heated seats a few times and they are only slightly warm to the touch after 15 minutes. My wifes Edge seats get so hot I have to switch to the lower setting in the same time period. You guys with the 2011's do your seats get hot?
Thanks
Mine get pretty hot, to the point I have to turn them down after about 10-15mins of driving (with 10min warmup in ~20 degree weather). This is my first experience with heated seats though so I have nothing to compare them to.
Are you adjusting the level so all 3 lights are lit up?
Yes I am trying the highest setting (all three lights on) I thought they should be a lot hotter than they are getting, but I wanted to hear what others are getting for heat before I go back to the dealer. Thanks
The Edge seat heaters are electric wires imbedded in the seat. The SD moves warmed air through the channels and holes in the seat. Big difference in response time. My SD will get the seats warm to the point of having to turn them down after 15 mins in 5 degree weather.
You know now that I think about it, my F250 seats dont get stupid hot or anything either, when on, but my lexus will burn you out. I might need to check the settings on mine and see what gives.
After reading your post dbc001 I was confused about how our seats operate, I thought all heated seats were done by electric heating elements. I went to the dealership to talk with a friend who is one of their best tech's, and he told me you are absolutely correct. He said this system has been around for about 5 years, and it is only used on the seats that are heated and cooled. The heating and cooling is done buy a small unit under each seat that is similar to the operation of a heat pump used in a house. He also said that this type of unit will never get as hot as an electric heated seat and they are much slower at getting the seat hot. I did go for a 20 mile ride and the seat got warm but no where near hot, so I guess this is the first disappointing thing about the new truck.
Thanks for the replies.
F150's have electric heated on the cooled seats. My friend has a harley and within 1min of turning them on you got full heat. Also the cooled on his truck works ALOT better too.
I know I'm joining this discussion a few days late. I just purchased a 2001 F-350 on Saturday and I notice that the passenger seat heats up nicely, but the driver's side barely heats up at all. More specifically, the back of the seat does not feel warm at all and the bottom portion of the seat is mostly cold with a little warmth toward the back end. Do any of you have any thoughts on this?
Mine will get too warm after a few minutes of driving. Have to turn them down or off. I don't think they would ever burn you but they get too warm for comfort.
