89 F150 Steering Column
Hello all, new to forum and the F150. My 89 4.9L 4spd has a tilt column currently. The column had to be lifted up on to start. I bought the truck knowing I would have to probably adjust the ignition switch. Before I could get to it I broke the column lifting up a little too hard... Now the column flops all over (up and down) while driving. I have a temp fix with a piece of angle iron and some large hose clamps. I still have to jump the terminals on the starter solenoid to start the truck though.
Ok, my questions are thus: are the parts readily available to rebuild the column? Where can I find them (locally columns both tilt and non-tilt seem to be as rare as hens teeth!)? I would love to go back to a non tilt column if I can find one, do they interchange without issue?
