What I got for Christmas

I've been tryin to get a very important to me '65 with '66 grill goin', that I bought from the original owners estate, it's a local truck I saw at work, looking cherry in the 80's. It belonged to a great guy, a Greyound driver for 20 years he started his own trucking compay that ran around NM.

He passed in the 1990's,his daughter is my friend, and it was layed up under a tree since 2001. I found it at her place in 2009. I bought it by trading some needed home equipment in early 2010.

Straight body, fully optioned, all the parts where there but I knew it was hurtin', hadn't run in 10 years. I figured the engine was bad, and brakes, fluids yada yada. After almost a year of tryin' to get things movin', something got done on the ol' 65. Barter and beer money is all I have after being laid off in 2009. So the process is slow but it is sure.

I just wanted to share with the group that would understand
what it is to try and get it goin'.

Merry Christmas FTE
Thanks NumberDummy, get well soon.

Merry Christmas Dman! Stay warm!

I hope to have pictures to post as it goes along. I got a nice email from the friend who sold it to me, about how glad she was to hear it run again after all these years. It was emotional. These trucks really get to ya. It played such a significant role in the family and the kids growing up.

Thank you, I was amazed as you can tell by my reaction, that it ran so smooth and clean. Gene took good care of it.

Thank you. Merry Christmas guys!
I'm watching the Chasing Classic Cars marathon on HD Theatre (Cable), waiting to go to the Christmas family thing, and I'm realizing that hearing that 352 V8 roar around the country here will be as big a blast as the baubles of the rich and famous in Monterey. Sounds crazy to some, but it's because it's a hard fought labor of love.
Very grateful for my slick.

Cool video and nice truck.

I think you may have just found your next job. Send that clip to some of the television/cable stations, hell even the radio. You have a great story telling voice. You could be the next Mike Rowe.

Thanks Kyle it's what I do. Not at the Mike Rowe pay level, but a few corporates and a few commercials. As it says Ten Minute Prods. I just threw it together on the editor. I only did it to show a few folks who have been watchin me struggle to get it, then get it goin'. But I figured you guys would understand the feelin' too.

Merry Christmas
