Radiator help please
<hr style="color:#D1D1E1; background-color:#D1D1E1" size="1"> Good morning all,
My son is looking for a radiator for his 55 Customline . I know it's not a truck, but figured I'd ask here anyway, since these forums are such a great place for info.
He's got a 223 I Block in it. His original radiator was, ummm... tacoed. *grin* So rebuilding it is not an option.
My question is: Are there other cars/trucks with the same radiator? Perhaps someone could look up the Ford part number and I can go from there? Any other suggestions?
So far, the only new ones I have found were on eBay and they are over $400 plus shipping. Ugh.
Thanks so much
J

Most replacement radiator suppliers have catalogs listing all the pertinent measurements just requires searching for the best fit. Don't know that the Ford part number will do you much good, Ford was notorious for changing part #s back then. ~400.00 is the going price for a new copper/brass radiator these days. Problem is that a used one is likely 40-60 years old! A newer one of a similar size may be found, but it will likely require quite a bit of modification to the mount to install. In 55 most radiators were vertical flow (tanks top and bottom with vertical tubes), most radiators today are crossflow. tanks on the sides with horizontal tubes, that puts the outlets on one side. If he can handle the modifications required, he should just head to the U-pull with measurements and tapemeasure in hand.

I just ordered a new radiator for my son's 54 F350 from Champion Cooling Systems. My son found them on Ebay. It is a full aluminum unit and the tanks are polished. I talked to a guy named Jeff there. He was super helpful, friendly and shipped it for free. His number is 909-912-9213. Hope this helps!!
