I've been working on my '80 F100 for about a month and a half now and have been doing some great work for teaching myself as I go. Just recently my Bro-In-Law has been over and decided to work on my truck while I was out there and now I can barely get the truck to move. I think that all he did was fiddle with my carb, any ideas??

 

If he was messing with the carb, check the air mixture screw, turn it in to it stops, do not tighten, then open @ 2 turns and see how it runs. Did he change the timing?

 

I dont think he did anything to my timing but I know he changed the vacuum line cluster around to nearly nothing.

 

Where did he hook the vacuum advance line from the distributor to?

 

to the carburetor

 

Make sure it is to the ported vacuum advance location and not just manifold vacuum.

 

I am rebuilding my carb right now, then I'm going to check all vacuum lines and make sure they are in the correct spots.

 

Carburetor disassembled, now to clean the whole thing up and make sure theres no gunk and put it back together

 

Thats the autolite 1bbl right?
Ever think of going to a Offenhauser intake and a holley 3904bbl carb?

 

its the motorcraft(carter) 1bbl, and no I haven't, i've just been trying to get my truck on the road, I found the label for my carb and got it cleaned off so I can actually read it, how do I depict what the model is from this:

Take it (metal label tag) down to Knechts, they will give you the right kit.
Should be a breeze, pay attention to the float settings.

 

i already have the kit, all the pieces match up and so do the gaskets

 

Your good to go then............just find a clean place to work, and good light.
I use the kitchen table, wife HATES it!
