Cool Wiring Issues!

I am new and impatient at troubleshooting electrical problems so please don't laugh to much if the answer is right in front of my face.

I went through the trucks lighting system and i thought i was done fixing the minor problems i.e. grounds, light bulbs. So i thought. when i turn on my headlights both of my blinkers and marker lights come on. but either blinker wont work in tandem with the headlights> they just stay on and do not blink

During the day i would be fine. but as soon as i would need my headlights i have no blinkers? i am clueless. Please, any input would be great.

I'm a bit confused by your description. Do the turn signals work at all? Do the hazards work with the headlights either on or off?

Are you sure you have dual filament bulbs? The turn signals and parking lights (front) use a separate filaments. The side marker lights use a single filament peanut bulb and do not blink.

My blinkers do work, as does everything else, as long as my head lights are off. as soon as i turn on my headlights everything is normal until i try and use the blinkers. The blinker-lights are on when my headlights are on but they do not blink. they blink only when the headlights are off. haha soon i will have holes in my walls. I ran my battery dead tinkering with it. I just want to slap the previous owner(s).

sorry for being vague before.

maybe someone tried to tap into a wire and screwed something up...i would check all the wiring and make sure it looks right.. Also, like hiosilver said, if you put the wrong buld in something, it messes everything up. I once had a wrong bulb in 1 tailight, and the brake lights didnt work with the headlights on...took me like a month to finally figure it out

hope this helps...its for a '78 f series, but should be pretty darn close to your wiring:

Wow i feel dumb. i replaced a blinker socket and took out a bad bulb. I continued working on the wiring thinking i had major problems. Then I put a new light bulb in the socket i replaced and everything worked. If i get a tumor 30 years down the road im blaming it on this very stressful event.
