460 into 78 F100

I got motor mounts, bell housing, etc. I got it mostly figured out, but I want to use this carb

Summit Racing SUM-M08750VS - Summit Racing Street & Strip® Carburetors - Overview - SummitRacing.com

To top of my 460. But whats got me is do I need a vaccum secondary or a manual secondary? Which would be best for street/strip use?

The one with a mechanical secondary is 340 and if I am going that much I would rather go with a quickfuel carb. But would a vaccum secondary carb work on my 460 for street/strip use? Not like I plan on braking records or anything.

it all depends on how built your engine is,vacume secondaries are designed to only open when the engine actually needs them.I am running a holley 670 street avenger on my 302 in my 78,its a vacume secondary carb,if your engine is built to run high rpm/horse power then go with mechanical, opens with your foot.Hard on fuel and if your engine isn't designed to take such fueling and quick rpm you experiance flooding conditions and poor performance. If you are going to drive this thing much on the road I would suggest going with vacume.
What are you running for cam/intake and so on?

The Carter 625 i have seems to do ok. I think its a matter of preference and once you learn how to drive with mech secondaries, you become aware of how far you have to push the throttle to get them to come in. I found out quickly that if you dont have it wound up a little, say 2000-3000RPM its just useless. I kinda like' em. Get your foot right on the edge of the sec. and mash the pedal and away you go!!

Sorry so long for the replys guys, but as for Intake, thats still up in the air, but for cam I plan on doing a Lunati Bracket Master II cam. The truck is going to be driven mainly street but see strip time. I thought about getting a CJ intake, and a adaprtoe plate and mount a squarebore on the CJ intake, and do my heads up like CJ heads if it would be possible.

I wouldn't go with that carb from Summit, it wasn't one of Holley's best ideas. If you want a 750 then I'd get a Holley 3310 750 vac 2nd. A dbl pump is more reserved for competition & uses a alarming amount of fuel.
