My father had a White with 3 sticks back in the 70's.
None of the shift levers were anywhere near that long though.

The ONLY Econolines that were available with the New Process 435 (NP435) 4 speed were 1984/87 E350 Cut-Away's.

Pic in post #61: NP435 was swapped into this '79 E100.
By "top loader", I assumed he was referring to the RUG tranny and not the NP435.

IDIDieselJohn posted a picture of a 79 E100 that had a NP435. That's who NumberDummy was referring to, not rubioford about the NP435 info.

He quoted rubioford in his response, thus the confusion.

85 E150 300ci,3onTree, broken shifter

Someone broke the part the shifter handle goes into, inside the column, looks like pot metal... shifter collar? Mechanic thinks it may be easier to replace whole steering column... Input please...

The problem is going to be finding one. There weren't that many around when they were new. Let alone over 30 years later.

I have an 88 short wheelbase e150 with a factory 5 speed and a 300 4.9l. It is 100% factory and a thing.

Has a towbar on the front. Previous owner ordered the van so he could tow it behind his Rv. It is a factory 5 speed and it runs and drives fantastic.
