In round numbers, 1/4".

If you need to know exactly I have a set up in the garage I could measure with a caliper tomorrow evening.

alright thats what i got when used a ruler to measure and injector tip, not very accurate. I'm trying to get a magnetic pick up in there to catch some glowplug tips that are swollen if they break off. do you think i should go 1/4" or slightly smaller to make fitting it in there easier

Injector tip diameter 17/64" or 6.26 mm

Glow plug tip 3/16" or 4.76 mm

Using a magnet bigger than what you could get in the hole, there is not enough attraction to pick up a whole glow plug.

It might be enough get a broken tip out though.

Yeah the one I bought I 5mm and has a half pound pick up ability.
My plan is to bring the piston to TDC put the magnet in the injector hole and then try to get out the glow plug. My hope is that if a tip breaks off it will stick to the magnet while it falls. if it misses hopefully the piston being up will stop it from going in the cylinder and i can fish around for it with the magnet. seems like a solid plan to me but if theres anyone with any more advice i'd reall appriciate it.
I've pulled heads before and i really dont want to again.

One of those large drinking straws, held in the end of a shop vac hose and sealed with a couple plastic bags down the injector hole, air gun blowing in the glow plug hole.

Better than that, take it easy working with PB Blaster and brake clean to cut the carbon off the tip carefully till you can get the entire plug out in one piece.

Cordless drill to carefully spin the glow plug while you spray PB or brake clean around the glow plug.

Just don't try the brute force pull it out method, probably will not make it out that way.
