PTO?

PTO?
I was going through my file on my truck today, I really looked over the sticker decal that came with the truck (2006 SDD F250). I noticed that I have and paid for "Trans Power Take-off Prov." Is this what I think it is?--a PTO off of this Automatic tranny? Say it ain't so. Can I run a winch off this thing? Anybody done it?

yes its true. there is a pcm controlled pto wire. thats what you paid for. you can run a pto pump over the right valve cover or possibel on the trans depending on what trans case you have. IIRC the 03 was the only year that did not have the access hole for the pto pump.
for passanger use I would think running an eletrick wench would be easer and better then running a true pto style

oddly yes....
Its my favorite thing to eat while sitting here reading/awnsering all the questions.
I tried a few different screen names all were taken or not allowed so I looked at my desk and saw the box.
how sad and unoriginal I know.
nack to the question.
the best thing to do with that pto wire is hook it up to the aux upfitter swich #4 for the high idle mod.
works great for heating the engine up in the winter and for those times when someone needs a jumpstart.

Could you please direct me to the modification for using the pto aux upfitter switch as you describe? I never thought about idling the engine higher to jump people. Also, does it matter which battery I use to jump someone?

for the mod
it makes no real differance what battery you are using to jump someone else with.
If I have to jump start a 7.3,6.0,6.4 I try to use the passanger battery as that has the shortist run to the starter
