new to forum and have a few question

last spring i purchased a 2006 f350 lariat fx4 with about 40k on it. it now has 57k on it. it has the 6.8 with an auto transmission. it came with a western plow as well. i paid 23k for the truck. when i purchased the truck they flushed the tranny, replaced all the brakes and rotors, parking cable, and fuel filter. im not sure if they did any thing else to the truck. here is a pic of the truck

i have a broken heat shield and tried to get a new clamp but they don't sell them any more. i was wondering if i could use a band clamp on it or if you guys have any other suggestions.

im also wondering if there is any special maintenance that should be preformed on this truck or any thing i should be watching out for? also if there are any parts that should be replaced to extend the life of the engine.

this is my first ford truck im a big Chevy guy i have owned 3 gmcs before this an i absolutely love this truck.

Nice looking truck...

I used a ss hose clamp for the heat-shield on the y-pipe. Worked like a charm. Triton motors seem to require new exhaust manifold studs now and then. They rot away and break in time. Something to be aware of. Other than that my 01 has been pretty good to me. Your truck is pretty much like new, so I wouldn't expect too much of anything to look out for. In time normal wear items like ball-joints, u-joints, batt, and bearings come up, but your truck should be good for a long while yet.

It is time to change the plugs, don't wait too much longer. Do a search on this forum on how to do it. My '08 now has 53,000 and I will do mine very soon.

Welcome to the Blue oval side! You've scored a super nice truck and shouldn't need much to provide you years of trouble free service. As previously mentioned, the plugs should be changed soon, I believe 2006 has the two piece plugs and can be an issue if you wait to change them. Congrats again.
