I have an '03 and am wondering it if is in the tank or on the rail? The truck is not here (so I can't crawl under it and look), and I need to make plans to replace the pump. I'm getting different stories as to where the pump is located?

I could not find anything in the archives, so figured I'd ask...

Any special tools required to swap one out other than the tools for disconnecting Ford's fuel lines?

Here you go, this will help.

 

It's down on the rail. Buy the entire HFCM, not just the pump itself. It will come with a new filter inside, and if you have the disconnect tools you'll have it R&R'ed in less than an hour. It's a very simple swap.
