LEVEL IT UP

Now that i got the front fenders/running boards/bed all on the truck it ain't level. I used the mustang 2 IFS and leafsprings from TCI . That should have lowered the truck 4 inchs front and back. So i thought. IFS with stock spindles and the 9 inch rearend on top of the leafs. I still have to add the hood and grill to the front but don't think that will drop the front much. So i was thinking to pick the rear up to make it level. If i cut the front coil it will be to stiff. WHAT WENT WRONG ? Could it be the stock shocks ?

I had heard that a MII front end needs some run in time to allow the new coil springs compress.

All coil springs, not just MII, will settle over time. I wouldn't even think about messing with it until you get at least 500-1000 miles on your truck.

You would be surprised how much even little things like hood, grille, water in the radiator, etc., will make a difference in ride height. That is all weight right on top of, or in front of the springs. Weight forward of the springs will have a cantilever effect and will seem heavier then their actual weight on the springs.

Nothing, ….the coil springs need to settle, ….maybe not as much as you might like, but you can fix that latter.

Sounds good, Fred. Keep your nose to the grindstone. If I'm lucky, I'll finally get to start working on mine in 2011 instead of just dreaming about it.

That's the problem, Fred. I'm surrounded by tools - the kind that don't have the first idea how to maintain or repair a car and can't afford to pay somebody else to do it. Unfortunately, they are all close friends or family and they rely on me to keep their junk rolling. I spend so much time working on everybody else's stuff that I can't even think about my own. It's almost like having a second job - except it costs me money instead of earning it. I've about had it, though. They've been put on notice that they need to start figuring it out for themselves. The family mechanic is closing up shop.

No doors or interior? In addition to all the other stuff we discussed, you easily have at least 500 pounds to go. That front end is still coming down, even without the settling. No worries.
