It is actually a 1950T. Unfortunately it isn't mine. I saw it at our State Fair and had to sit on it, my wife took the picture. We own a 1800 gas. We also had a 1755 with a Kelly loader on it for a while, and a 2255 with the CAT 3150. The CAT blew up twice so we traded it for a IH 1466. Then the 1755 had metal shavings in the oil, so we traded it for a quick attach loader for the 1466. (I still like the Oliver's better.) We also have had a IH 1206 for many years with no issues on that other than corroded battery cables and using ether to start it when it gets cold.

I have looked and cannot find what I want. What are the towing fuel economy numbers for the 6.2 with 4.30 gears. I ordered a 250 6.2 4.30el to tow my boat. Approximate weight 8000 lbs but sits over 11' on the trailer. The boat is a catamaran so There is amlot of boat above the cab. Has anyone had any experience with any towing with a lot of wind drag?

Hi Josh
Sounds like about 8-10 mpg at 60 mph is about what you can expect towing your boat based on what you described.

Josh,
I'd have to agree with Mike - My skid steer is about 7 ft sitting on about a 2.5-3' high flatbed making it about 10' tall.. I'd guess about 8-10mpg for yours.. On the other hand it weighs in at about 15k but your boat may be more of an air-dam..

2011 F250 6.2L 4.30 gears. 29' Tiara Pursuit 9,000lbs. 12' 2'' tall Tri-axel trailer

8.6 mpg over a 200 mile trip at 55-60 mph.

I am currently in 06 dodge 5.9 6spd std 4x4 getting empty 15-16 and 8 to 10 pulling. The only thing I want to do is make it 280 to 290 round trip pulling my boat so splitting fuel costs will be easier. I'm tired of the dodge falling apart and it seems there are a lot of liars about their fuel economy on diesels.

Exactly! They have to justify spending an extra $8000 on the deisel when most of them dont really need it. Hook a trailer to it and they get just about the same mpg as a gasser.

I can vouch for that. My towing mileage is the same with my 6.2 as it was with my stock 6.4.

How does the truck do pulling your boat? Does it struggle? What gear and rpm are you at going 60? Have you gotten over 12 empty? Sorry about all the questions but you have a similar truck to what I have ordered. They start building this week.

I have only pulled the boat once with the new truck and it does great! Glad I got the 4.30's forsure, but I am VERY happy with the performance of the 6.2L. In the U.P I am usually at about 60mph, which is about 1700 rpm. On my only trip towing so far I got about 9mpg.

My avg. "daily driving" mileage so far has been about 11-13mpg. I did get just over 14mpg when traveling at 60mph unloaded. I am hoping for about 15 or so when unloaded and on "Summer" gas.

I tow my boat in the summer in Louisiana. I guess I'm nervous because I cant find a 4x4 6.2 any where near me. Especially 4.30 gears. The wildlife and fisheries have the trucks but they know nothing about them. All of the trucks at the local dealers are crew cab 4x4 lariat. I wanted a truck! Not a luxury car! Sweep the floors, wipe the seats off, and reach down to engage the transfer case. That's why I ordered an XL with tuxedo black to kinda offset that big black grill. Probably pick up a set of 20" take off's with the michelin's. X plan price with the options 32k. I can live with that.

Sick of my 6.2

I have 7000 miles on my 2011 6.2 F250 4x4 w/3.73 rear. If i stay stictly in stop and go city traffic I get 9.5 to 9.9. If I do combo driving I get 11.5. But here is the sickning part, hwy driving with cruise set on 78 to keep up with traffic The truck averages 12.7. I really expected 15 to 16 hwy. I tried straight gasoline and picked up .3mpg so not worth the extra .05 per gallon I tried to trade it today for a different truck which didnt go well. Would have taken a $10,000.00 hit off what i pd 3 months ago.

I'm surprised to read that the mpg unloaded and towing is not much better than the V10. I was beginning to think maybe I should have waited for the 2011 model to get better mpg unloaded but I see no real appreciable difference with the numbers I'm getting with my V10....1-2 mpg difference.

Think of it this way. You saved 8K MSRP by not buying the diesel. Couple that with the current premium on diesel of .50 cents in my neck of the woods, oil change savings, no urea, etc. You are saving money in the long run, even at 12 miles to the gallon unloaded.

Almost 80 mph will eat fuel, to get good milage you have to slow it down a bit. Im getting 14 hwy with a 4.3 rear at 60-65 mph. If I did 78 I bet I'de be at around 11mpg. These trucks are heavy.
