REMOTE START PLUG AND PLAY!
#31
The only problem is you have to use an additional key fob (these keys are big enough). I was going to get one for my friends Focus for Christmas until I realized she would have to use 2 fobs (one for remote start and the other for keyless entry). For that vehicle they should make it so it has both the remote start function and the keyless entry all in one. I know you can do this with aftermarket but didn't see the sense in hacking into a brand new cars wiring when it already has an alarm and keyless entry.
You can search this string in google BT4Z-19G364-A and it will pull up websites that show remote start kits for various Ford.

I was hoping to find the actual owner's manual for this kit on the Ford website. No luck. I think the reason the fob is not integrated with the key is because it is a bi-directional setup and there is a large antennae integrated into the key fob.
What is not clear is how it works. From the instruction PSHD provided, there is no mention of the doors needing to be locked, only closed. Does this mean the fob is smart enough to lock them like what is required on the remote start key fob I have? I like the bidirectional nature of the setup. If it truly reaches out anywhere near 1000 feet, it would be nice to get a confirmation the vehicle is up and running.
Without the manual, it is also hard to understand if there are any other changes to the remote start characteristics and how it will or won't interact with the existing key fob.
In other words, I have signed up to be you Guinea Pig -- oink, oink... I will keep you posted.

Y2KPSD -- good to see you are on the GP list as well. Did you get an estimated delivery date? I did and it says January 3rd!! Ed -- I realize you are not Amazon, but $22 is a lot for shipping via UPS a 2 lb. box on the slowest service I didn't think they had.

Pretty sure you won't need it if remote start is already installed (I didn't order it).

Latest tsb after I install it, and maybe they will do the remote start for free?

I have a window at work (3rd fl), where I can see my unit... but, can't tell if it starts.... iffy at best... It is a good distant away. <!-- / message -->
