97 tranny swap questions.

I have a 97 f150 with a 4.6 and a 14bolt pan, auto tranny. i am wondering if i can replace this tranny with the larger 20 bolt tranny. has anyone out there tried this?

I did in my 03 but it's a big job and a PITA! There is a lot of changes to be made.
2WD or 4X4?

No, there is no kit.
It will be a lot cheaper for you to have your 4r70 rebuilt by a good builder. And a lot less headaches.

Just to give you an idea,
you would need to have your front drive shaft lengthened and you back drive shaft shortened.
You need to buy the larger tranny , dipstick and dipstick tube , shift cable ,wire-harness , computer from that tranny , have it tuned to run your truck.
You need a different crossmember , you need to figure out the T-case mounting. You may also need the dash wire harness.
There might be something I'm leaving out but that's the best I can remember right now.
