Hello all. This may be a dumb question, but I was wanting to know if the oil pan on my 05 F350 6.0l can be removed fairly easily. Can I simply unbolt it and remove it?? I ask this question because this is my first diesel. I've removed several on gas motors in the past just need to know if the diesel is any diffrent. Thanks in advance, any input will be greatly appreciated.
unbolt engine mount nuts at frame. lift engine 2" you may wisy to remove the fan shround to prevent damage. if you dont and you break something I will laugh .
unbolt the oil pan slide it back drop the pick up tube down and let if fall in the pan then slide the pan out.
Thanks I had a feeling I would have to raise the motor. Was wishful thinking I wouldn't have to. I'm going to remove it because it is seeping oil. Would you recomend Ford factory gasket or is there a better aftermarket one??
ok guys i made a rookie mistake, mixed up the long and short bolts, forgot where the long ones go. can anyone help me with this i know front and back but i dont remember exactly.
using a floor jack is a bit on the unsafe side... been there done that. use a block of wood under the balance. once the motor is up use something as a support under the motor mount. do not stick your fingers or hands any were they can be crushed while doing this. I use 2 large sockets wuth extensions as handles so I dont stick my hands in the wrong place.
