I just bought a 1985 Bronco II XLS and it doesn't have a radio. I would like to put I ford radio back in it if I can find one. Does anyone know how I can tell if my Bronco II has premium sound or not. It looks like there are two different radios, one for premium sound and one for regular sound. I don't know what I've got since the old radio is gone. Also do you know what other vehicles had the same radio. These things seem hard to find so if I could find one in a different model that might help. Thanks in advance for your help.

 

im pretty sure the same radio is in the f150 lines and the ranger lines too

 

either way i beleive the wiring harness is the same so you should be able to plug in any radio from that year range ford and be fine

 

Thats correct, premium sound is just a external hidden, under the dash amp. Any of the higher trim level units of the time will plug in fine.

 

Thanks. I know on the 90's model fords the premium sound had different connections in the back so I wasn't sure. Now I just have to find a radio from that time period. It doesn't look like there are a lot out there.
