Bed Extender in a dent?

Anybody install a bed extender in their dentside? (or hear about it) - like this:

BEDXTENDER HD? | AMP Research

I had one an OEM in my 2001 F150 shortbed and it worked great, would like to put one in my 1978 to help when I'm hauling 8' whatever.

Hello fellow FTE'ers. I know this wasn't a popular topic :-) but I'll finish the topic for anyone in the future that might be interested.

I called Amp Research, gave them the dimensions to my truck and they said I could "buy off the rack" with one of the following part numbers:

74804-00a (Sport Model in Silver)
74804-01A (Sport Model in Black)
74814-00a (Max Model in Silver)
74814-01A (Max Model in Black)

I ordered the Mad Max (74814-01A) from Summit ($250) and crossed my fingers. It arrived today, 30 minutes later it was installed. A direct fit, no mods needed and even the tie-down latches worked in the tailgate latch.

On to the next project !

That's very cool. I figured Amp Research would offer it for an arm and a leg given their price point for powered steps...

Bookmarked for reference.

Is that strap the only attachment means? Am I missing something?

It attaches to mounts you install (w/3 screws) on each of the D pillar posts, some pics of the mount:

The straps are only to pull the extender snug on the tailgate (so it doesn't pop up with stuff in the back and/or to hold the extender down if you have something "pinched" between it and the tailgate.

Mounts allow you to roll the extender over and close the tailgate, nice and clean.
