Fuel Pump Install Help

So my fuel pump failed the other day and I went to replace it. When I went to the parts store, the pump that is for my truck was not what was on it. I do not have an in-cab tank, but that is what was on my truck. See link.

Amazon.com: Airtex 60092 Mechanical Fuel Pump: Automotive

I decided to replace it with what was already on there. I am also confused, because it came off the engine as it is shown in the picture. The canister was on top and the new one mounted in easily that way and pumps fuel. Does anyone know if this is correct?

It looks like they have it upside down in that ad/picture. You can see the plate on the wrong side of the arm. I don't think tank location really affects the pump at all. That seems a bit pricey as I got a airtex pump from my local auto store that has advanced computers....and it was only bout $20-$25.

Yeah that ad pic is upside down! Canister for filter hangs down. Have one on my 360 v8.

Take that pump back and get the correct pump for your application.
77 F100 4.9l WITHOUT in-cab tank. Not sure why pictures show the pumps upside down. They may in-fact be supposed to mount that way, but i've always installed them with the inlet and outlet ports pointing down, not up. If that's not right though, id like to know.

The pump needs to be installed as shown in the picture on the I6, looks funny but it is correct.
