My 2006 XLT has no illumination, The symbols are just painted on there. Crappy paint I might add, it's already starting to wear off.

That's strange! The heater controls are illuminated but the lighting controls are not, guess they saved a nickle there.

The radio is the one that's worn on my truck. I just bought it with 150k miles and the letters are almost gone from the radio controls.

I guess, since the switch illumination wouldn't come on until you already found the switch, they figured it didn't really need to be illuminated, cause you were going to have to find it in the dark anyway.

Yeah, but the reason I noticed it was I had turned the engine off, the light warning bell was dinging and I couldn't see the switch! There is also the dash light dimmer that could use a light.

After you drive it for a couple of months you won't need a light anymore.

Hum, well luckily I knew where the switch was and summer is coming, sometime!

I just couldn't figure out where the bulb was, or isn't. If it's that way on other F250s I'll stop looking for the bulb.

my 2006 has the little headlight icons illuminated, just not the actual ****. I would assume if the icons on yours arent illuminated then a bulb might be out.

There is no way to get the switch apart and no bulb that I can see on the outside. The is a hole beneath the switch that might take a bulb holder and there is clear plastic around the switch that could carry the light, but no bulb or socket. I couldn't see any bulb holder loose in the dash either. If someone has one apart please post a picture of the bulb location.

Mine too, and besides that, the switches aren't that expensive to replace. No way to get the switch apart. It's welded plastic rivets.

I looked on eBay and found two.

SW5629 for about $100
SW5689 for about $55

The cheaper one has a fog light switch built in. Would my wiring harness plug into the switch with fog light option? What I mean is, is the truck prewired for fog lights?

My 04 is an SW5662--automatic no fog lights. Not sure about the fog lights, but I think the harnesses are all the same for lights.
