His story pans out I checked with the ford maintenance guide and entered all the info he gave me, year, mileage etc, and under "normal conditions" oil changes are listed at every 10K miles.

Melted! 2009 F-350 6.4L diesel
After 30 years of purchasing only Ford gas vehicles for our business and personal use ($1,000,000 paid cash), I decided to purchase our1st Diesel vehicle. After the purchase I followed the dealer SPECIFIED oil change intervals of 10,000 miles.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

While starting up a very steep grade I lost traction, let off the pedal and shifted into 4-high and when the tires caught it felt like the tranny dropped and then engine started running like S.
Turns out engine melted down at 30,800 miles (#2 & #8) – Ford denies warranty due to lack of maintenance. Engineer tells me I should have been changing the oil at 5000 or 200hrs and I should have had 5 oil changes at this point instead of 2. Engine failure is due to oil growth from lack of maintenance causing the oil to be sucked up into the charging system.
DEALERSHIP CLAIMS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SERVICE SPECIFICATIONS THEY GAVE ME.
The engineer from Ford came back with a report stating that the fuel growth from the regen process had gotten to the point where oil was sucked through crankcase breather system and then fed into the air intake system as an uncontrolled fuel source. Basically ford and the dealership are giving me the finger stating that based on the hours of my rig I should of had 5 oil changes instead of 2.
What I think might have happened is that the breather system that ingested the oil is located towards the flywheel and when the tires grabbed in 4wheel drive and I was going up the steep road all the oil ended up at the back of the engine. <o></o>

10,000 miles is too long regardless of what the book says. I change my oil every 4,000 gas or diesel. They should honor the warranty if you did change the oil at 10, 20 & 30K miles. Almost anything you tow or haul with these trucks bumps you into severe usage, which is usually about 5,000 miles max per change. I only buy gas engines now. I learned my lesson with a 6.0. Contact your Ford regional rep. Good luck!

I hope this is just at the dealer level, and that the Ford engineer can help with his plight.
However, "making oil" refers to fuel contamination that is common to the 6.4. Even if the oil change interval is 10k, checking the oil level is definitely not. Checking the oil level is important and required by the owners manual, and noticing that it is overfilled is reason to visit the dealer. As someone noted, that's why we prefer to underfill on the stick so that we can easily determine if an overfill happens. It's not so common on my 6.0, but it is common on the 6.4.
The charge system refers to the turbo induction system. Not electrical. I suppose that the oil level could be high enough that the drains are blocked, and the crankcase vent could suck oil into the intake. That this would happen under a sudden acceleration makes some sense as well.
I think this one could go either way, easily.
