Winter Covers, Who uses em?

Just installed my winter cover on the grille last night. how many of you cold climate guys use them and what are your thoughts? I didnt use it last winter and had no problems with snow in the filter but was curious if they really help.

I use mine, I put it on last week. It definately helps it warm up faster. Last winter I got it on after one morning the truck started up and ran fine, @ -7F (it was plugged in all night.) I drove about 3 miles and it just died. I tried to start it and nothing.(acted like it ran out of fuel.) I sat there about 5 minutes and tried again and it started right up. So off I went for about 2 more miles and same thing again. At that point I was almost to the dealership so when it started again I went there and they said I probably had ice in the lines or filters. that's when I inquired about the winter front and they said they could get me one under warranty if I told them I had snow in the air filter.(early '08's didn't come with them) so they did that and the warm air tube and I haven't had a problem since. Not saying the two are directly related, but I've got alot of time on my hands today so I figured I'd give you the whole history behind it.

I run mine as soon as the temp goes below 40. Better warm up and better mileage when it gets really cold. Before I got the cover I froze my airbox solid twice. This only happens in very heavy snow and not so slow speeds. I also do not have to worry about the outside temps where Ford requires you to remove the cover. My DPF and EGR seem to be missing.

I use mine under 40 here in Wisconsin. Also see a quicker warmup. I had to make the dealer order me on on my 2010... didn't come with it though the sticker said it did.

Hmmmm, I have mine, but never used it. At 40 degrees I would think blocking most of the airflow would heat things up a little much. Also, when the temps are cold would you guys use this if you were plowing? I probably wouldn't since the plow already deprives the motor of air as it is.

Cooling these down is no issue. Using it plowing works fine. Sometimes coming back from up north sledding it will be 10 degrees and by the time we get home it's 50-55 towing 5 sleds at 80 and the temp guage doesn't even twitch. Does it even get cold way down in Long Island!?

Don't have one but I used that corragated white plastic and zip tied it to the back of the grill looks good and works also jammed a old t-shirt down behind the back of the passenger headlight to stop the fluffy snow from getting sucked up from underneath and behind the headlight drove around the block in fluffy deep snow and blowing snow. Checked the new air filter and it was clean and dry of snow!!!

Cold is relative hahaha. To me what we have now is freezing! We are at around 25F for a high temp today. Later this week I will be waking up to 15F brrrrrrrr
