Fuel, spark (in proper order) and compression. What are the symptoms?

I bought it and it started/ran fine.

Parked it and it wouldnt run, new ignition module, checked all wiring, checked distributor, checked fuel... until I finally pushed the distributor all the way one direction and BOOM it fired right up and ran, leading me to believe the timing chain had worn enough to jump a tooth. Put a new timing chain/gear set on it. It would run off and on.

This past week I scored another carb, tore it apart cleaned it up check it over, slapped it on, replaced a few cracked fuel lines, plugged a vacuum leak i'd missed before and it fired up perfectly. Idled for about 10 minutes warming up yesterday and then started throwing fits again. It would start up and run then just cut out like i'd killed the ignition. I tested the ignition module, checkd over the distributor again, the carb sprays fuel the instant I touch the throttle, and the fuel filter is staying full.

When it dies it will fire right back up. I'm thinking I mighta fried another ignition module, but I just hate to throw more parts at it.

Looks like I sold the truck to its previous owner today.

I had to take a loss on it, but I have the truck on someone else's property and I've taken them for granted for too long!

Sooo, later this week I'll no longer be a ford owner

Oh i'll still be around. That was my 5th and oldest ford truck, and definitely not my last one.

I think next i'll go for a 2wd diesel project
