My pin #7 on C250 is grounded already, my tach is fine, the one I was comparing it to is reading low I guess (not that either one is necessarily dead-on-***** accurate). In the diagram it shows that the black/yellow wire goes to C202 before it dead-ends on the Six. So, because I swapped the underhood harness, which includes C202, to the 460 harness, my pin #7 is now grounded there. I had to use the 460 harness since it has the remote mount TFI module, whereas the Six had it on the distributor.

I just swapped my 1990 instrument cluster for an '88 with a tach and trip odometer. Everything works fine except the oil pressure gauge. It goes from 0 to "H" with basically no reading. I thought that 1987 thru 1991 was a "series" according to Wikipedia. I read on this blog that other swaps went with out a hitch. What did I miss?

The sender on the engine in 1988 was an anlog sender and the sender on the 1991 is a switch off and on.
So when you have oil pressure in the 91 with an 88 cluster it will peg.
You have two options:
1. you can put an 88 anlog sender on the 91 engine.
2. you can put a 20 ohm resister in the wire between the switch and the gauge.

Subford, thank you very much for your reply. I have to confess I am a novice at much of this work on my newly acquired '90 Ford truck. The last vehicle I really did any work on was my '76 Scout, a looooong time ago. Where is the oil pressure sending unit, or where exactly would I put a 20 ohm resistor? Thank you for your patience with a newbie.

Subford, Thank you again for your response. I thought after I posted that I'd forgotten to tell you which engine. Hindsight is always 20/20. I have a 1990, 4.9 Liter, inline 6. Your photo should help me nonetheless. I imagine they look alike regardless of engine??? I think I've seen this on other engines. Thanks again.

subford, I'm sorry to be so dense, but when you say switch do you mean the ignition switch, or the sending unit? I'd be most intimidated to try to break into the ignition switch wiring.

Subford,
Thank you very much again. You've gone to a great deal of trouble for someone you've never met. I appreciate it.
