Tips or Tricks?

I waxed my truck a while back and accidentally got wax on the trim that goes down the side of the truck and left pretty noticeable white patches. I was wondering if anyone had an idea, or method as to how to remove it. I've tried different things, and nothing seems to work.

If its on the black rubber/plastic trim try soap and an old toothbrush. If that doesn't work try a little bit of mineral spirits and the toothbrush and then rinse in off.

Like Texas said, soap and a toothbrush, making sure the water is HOT can also help to soften the dried wax. If that doesn't work, Take a clean old spaghetti sauce jar and lid with you and roll by a local body shop and see of you can talk them out of a bit of whatever brand of surface cleaner they use to prep panels before painting. That way you can keep some on the shelf to use as needed to clean the wax of trim pieces as needed. I use MAXX SOLV 5900 Wax & Grease Remover myself, but there are other brands out there. Also, remember that it will also take off the wax on the paint if you get it on there (won't hurt the paint tho, just wipe it off if you get it on the paint).

Yep Hot water should help too. You could also try some simple green. It will take the wax off the paint too.

Thanks guys. I'll start off with simple green, then try mineral spirits n hot water since I've got those sitting around.

If you use the mineral spirits use in by itself and rinse off. I bet the warm water with simple green gets it off.

What kind of wax did you use? I like Meguiars Gold Class liquid wax. It doesn't seem to leave as much white residue if you bump the black trim.

Haha it's an LMC grill I got a couple years ago. Don't think anyone makes it anymore. I like it better than the ones they have now

I'm not a fan of the billet grilles on 87-91 or 92-96. I only really care for them on 80-86. However, the one he has looks far better than the ones I keep seeing. I like the wider bars. I think I have seen that grille a few times before, but not very often.

I didn't get the chance today. I've been working on and shining up an Explorer I'm trying to sell. I'll give it a shot tomorrow tho
